Recommendations

While I can't promise that these vendors (people or companies who provide you with services or goods) will be great for you, I've had good experiences with them myself or have heard enough good things about them from other brides to feel comfortable recommending them.

Books/Magazine

Bridal Bargains: As soon as humanly possible, buy this book or get it from your library. It has great information about products that no one will tell you the truth about, like the quality of a wedding gown manufacturer and reliabilty of the invitation company you love. Excellent information no matter your stage of planning.

Simple Stunning Weddings: This was my favorite book for its philosophy and amazing pictures. Basically, less is more, don't try to fight your location with decor and all will be easier. Excellent tips from a pro that anyone can use. Don't be put off by the "theme" chapters if your wedding doesn't fit, read the intro for the basic idea.

Martha Stewart Weddings Magazine: My personal favorite because I like the overall style for inspiration and it has neat DIY ideas. Fewer ads than most bridal mags, but only printed 4 times per year.

Online Dress Stores

Pearl's Place: I saved over 50% on my wedding dress here. They are a real store in New Orleans and have a good reputation.

RK Bridal: will beat any price (in writing) by 5%. Most other online vendors won't give you a written quote because of this.
